DRAWING AND STRAIGHTENING
Drawing is a wire-reducing process and improves wire straightness. In addition to forming tube and bar stock, HMP has also made a name for itself in the construction of wire-forming machines. These machines include wire drawing machines, rolling mills, coiling machines and specialized machines designed for wire straightening and cutting.
The figure above shows a selection of rolled profiles. The profiles shown are used in the eyewear industry. In the flat-rolling sector, HMP builds machines for rolling strips with extremely high precision.
The workpiece is drawn through the die by means of a gripper and thereby reduced in its cross-section.
Instead of a stationary drawing die, continuously adjustable dies with rotating rollers can be used. Depending upon the application, steel or carbide rollers are used.
