Upset-Swaging can increase the wall thickness drastically in localized sections by forming the workpiece in the medium hot temperature range. For example, in this way a tube can be closed to the inside.
Upsetting to the outside:
By Upset-Swaging it is also possible to produce local increases in wall thickness on the outside of a workpiece, for example for production of flanges.
